I am launching a new video series called “Fertility & YOU” to help raise America’s awareness about fertility and the many infertility challenges experienced by 1 in 8 couples. Infertility is a medical condition and the trauma infertility causes people who endure reproductive difficulties can be overwhelming. Often infertility equals loss. Loss of control over your own body. Loss of a cherished pregnancy. Loss of your baby’s first birthday, first steps and first words spoken. Infertility is the loss of a dream.
Women and men suffering from infertility do not need to suffer in silence. There is hope for all couples experiencing infertility — you can have a rich and fulfilling future regardless of whether you become a parent. There are so many fertility options these days. So many choices to make along the journey.
I wrote Infertility Journeys, Finding Your Happy Ending to help women and men navigate their options. The book includes:
- Real-life stories from 18 couples who have experienced various forms of infertility and how they eventually found their happy ending
- Descriptions and explanations of fertility treatments
- Holistic approaches to improving fertility
- Highlights specific to a man’s experience
- Positive guidance through the grieving process
- 16 essential questions to ask a fertility specialist
- How do you decide what’s next? Should we do an IVF cycle? Use a surrogate? Adopt? Live childfree?
Today I’ve invited , author of Healthy Sex Drive, Healthy You, to talk about sex and fertility.
A lot of women feel overwhelmed when they are trying to get pregnant because they’re busy preparing their bodies for conception–checking their temperature, peeing on sticks and taking folic acid. A woman’s body goes through a lot of changes during ovulation.
I’ve asked Dr. Hoppe, “What happens to a woman’s body during ovulation (and pregnancy)? How do her bodily changes affect her sex drive?
Watch the video to hear her answers.
